Potential Funding Loss Could Impact Flood Insurance Rates

Do you live along the Guadalupe, Ross or Canoas Creeks ? Did you know we are likely to lose our funding for flood protection?

Why Should You Care?

E8 is a flood improvement project from Interstate 280 to Blossom Hill Road that will provide 100-year flood protection to 6,280 homes, 320 businesses,10 schools and institutions along the Guadalupe, Ross and Canoa Creeks. Higher flood protection means you will likely pay lower flood insurance premium. Project design is supposed to start next year and construction in 2028.

On August 13th at 1pm, the Valley Water Board will be voting to defund our E8 project and move $45M to a project in South County.

Are you shocked that after waiting for 10 years, we might be potentially be waiting for another decade? Are you aware that part of this project is funded from our real estate taxes annually to the tune of $45M per year (Measure S, Parcel Tax Approved November 2020) ?

Are you aware that the cities of Morgan Hill and Gilroy who would benefit from our defunding have all sent letters to Valley Water Board and will likely be in attendance to ensure our defunding gets approved?

If you want your voice heard, please join us and attend the Valley Water meeting in person (more impactful) or on zoom to state that you do not want the Guadalupe project (E8) defunded.

When: Tuesday August 13th at 1pm
Where: 5700 Almaden Expressway, San Jose
